Instructor Orientation - Road User Awareness Training

Overview

This orientation provides facilitators with the tools and resources to deliver vulnerable road user training to priority audiences. The materials have been adapted from formal driver CPC training, and are aligned to the Highway Code, including the hierarchy of responsibility.

Content includes:

  • The benefits of vulnerable road user training, including evidence of impact
  • Overview of current presentation and discussion of learning outcomes
  • Links to wider support and resources
  • Familiarisation with reporting tools

The orientation can be delivered remotely, or in groups, and provides an opportunity for Q&A with experienced facilitators.

What skills do I need?

To participate in this orientation you should be:

  • a road safety practitioner, involved in wider road safety education
  • or a qualified Cycle Trainer with experience of everyday cycling.

How long does it take?

The orientation lasts 1 hour.   We recommend a further 90 minutes for reading and familiarisation with resources.


What will I need?

Laptop or desktop to view orientation. 

Delivery is typically by MS Teams or Zoom.
