Cycle Training for Families is a 2.5 hour practical training module for families to develop their confidence in cycling together. It is designed so that parents/guardians and their children can cycle together safely as a group.
The sessions are tailored to meet the needs of the family. Examples of this may be:
You don’t need any specific skills other than the desire to be more confident on your bike.
Courses last up to 2.5 hours
You should have road worthy bike, and any equipment you intend to use for carrying children including seats or tag-alongs
There is no minimum age for the children participating (provided they can cycle or are in a child seat / trailer) but at least one adult should be present
Please contact your nearest provider for details. Some providers are funded to deliver courses for free, whilst some will have a charge.
Once you have completed Cycle Training for Families you should have improved confidence to start travelling by bike but the key is to practice what you have learned to grow your confidence.
