The two day Bikeability Scotland Instructor Trainer (BSIT) course enables you to deliver the Bikeability Scotland Instructor (BSI) course. You will take on the role of an instructor trainer and be shown how to use the Cycling Scotland training hub so that you can add classes, register participants and issue certificates. This course includes familiarisation with the BSI course and resources along with valuable teaching techniques. After you have passed the course, there is a minimum of two days shadowing and mentored delivery that needs to be completed before being fully signed off as a BSIT.
You will hold a valid Cycle Trainer certificate and have experience delivering Bikeability Scotland training to children.
This is a two day course. Once you have completed the training, you will need to complete a minimum of two days shadowing and mentored delivery. This may be followed up with additional mentoring if necessary.
You will need a bicycle in working order and clothes appropriate for the weather.
This course is free for anyone intending to train new Bikeability Scotland Instructors (BSIs) upon gaining authorisation from your local authority Bikeability Scotland coordinator.
There may be additional opportunities to perform as a mentor to support new Bikeability Scotland instructors, depending on your local authority. As a BSIT, it is recommended that you hold a valid first aid certificate and appropriate insurance.
